THQ celebrates move to new building

The first chapel service at Territorial Headquarters in Long Beach, Calif., was filled with thanksgiving and praise as 200 employees and officers gathered recently to celebrate the move.

It was the first time the THQ “family” had assembled in the new location, and those present had taken a break from unpacking boxes and setting up departments to do so.

The chapel itself was the focal point of the gathering. Territorial Property Secretary Major Ralph Hood, who spearheaded the planning and accomplishment of the relocation, stated “The heart of this facility will be this chapel. It will be a symbol of hope and worship for many.”

Commissioner David Edwards, territorial commander, emphasized the importance of the chapel, which is situated off the main lobby of the building. “The chapel does say something about us. I’d like you to make use of this chapel for prayer. Come on your own. It’s here, it’s open, sit down and have some time with your Maker. Come and quietly reflect on God.”

Edwards praised Hood for his work. “I can’t say enough about the role played by Major Ralph Hood. I want to thank God for placing him in this position at this time.”

He also thanked the move captains, the Information Technology group at THQ, and the Long Range Planning Committee.

“I thank the IT people for their devotion and dedication throughout the move, and it’s a result of the dedication of the Long Range Planning Committee that we are here today.”
