Wildfires have ravaged more than 9,000 acres and forced 21,00 people from their homes in San Diego, Calif. Since Wednesday, at least 400 acres have been burned in the city of Carlsbad alone and firefighters say the blaze is presently about 60 percent contained.
The Salvation Army is currently on the scene and have deployed two mobile hydration units to serve water, electrolyte drinks, coffee and snacks to first responders and those impacted by the fires.
“Along with hydration and food, spiritual comfort is our priority,” said Corps Officer for the Escondido Salvation Army Corps, Lt. James Parks. “We appreciate all of our community volunteers and those who give so generously to help those impacted by the wildfires.”
With Salvation Army centers in Oceanside and Escondido, as well as throughout the county, the Army is prepared to offer increased support as needed.
