Concord Bandsman Norman Blackie was killed in a tragic one-car accident enroute to the Great Victory Congress, where he was slated to play with the Concord Band. His wife, June, suffered minor injuries.
A Salvationist most of his life, Blackie had been an officer in the Eastern Territory. Born in England on March 12, 1919, he is survived by his wife, June, son Dave, daughter Melodi, eight grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hayward, with Major Bill Nottle bringing the message.
