The Salvation Army held a ribbon cutting ceremony April 13 to officially open the new Harvest House Transitional Sober Living Home, adjacent to the Roswell Corps Community Center in Roswell, New Mexico.

Attendees included Roswell Mayor Dennis Kintigh, members of the Roswell Chamber of Commerce and Lt. Colonel Kelly Pontsler, Southwest Divisional Commander.

The four-bedroom Harvest House will provide much needed support for Roswell area men who have completed The Salvation Army’s six-month Albuquerque drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, dramatically improving their chances of success.

“Men will be able to stay for up to a year,” said Roswell Corps Officer Lt. Joe West. “They will be required to have a job and attend weekly 12-step meetings, chapel services and mentoring, and they will be randomly tested for drugs and alcohol. Based on the results of The Salvation Army’s transitional home in Phoenix, this residence will more than quadruple our local success rate.”
