Adherents’ Breakfast Welcomes All at Congress

First time ever

According to Major Dan Starrett, Adult Rehabilitation Centers Comman-der, an adherent is, first and foremost, a part of the Church of Jesus Christ. “In the end, they are not so much adherents of The Salvation Army as they are adherents of the Kingdom of God.”

With this philosophy in mind, Starrett reports that he is now organizing what promises to be one of the most exciting events at the 1997 Great Victory Congress. The Adherents’ Breakfast, which will take place on Saturday, June 7th, at the Renaissance Hotel, will be designed to appeal to anyone who calls the Army their place of worship and service “It’s not just for the men and women in our programs, but for every person who has made a commitment to God through the Army. We want people from corps and institutions to come together and affirm that we are all a part of the family of God.”

The tentative program for the breakfast promises to do just that. Featuring a special message from the National Commander, Commissioner Robert A. Watson, the event will also include victory testimonies and an award presentation to a surprise guest.

“Those who attend will not be disappointed,” says Starrett. “This will be a highlight of the Congress weekend.”

Register for the 1997 Great Victory Congress through your corps officer or Adult Rehabilitation Centers Commander, or contact the Congress Office at Territorial Headquarters.
