Promoted to Glory

MAJOR RICHARD C. FITTON (R) was promoted to Glory November 9, 2000 from the Trident Hospital, North Charleston, S. C.

Dick was born to Lt. Colonel and Mrs. Richard Fitton in 1928 in Dallas, Texas. In 1948, he entered the Peacemakers Session, and was commissioned in 1949 in Atlanta, Ga.

In 1952 he married Lt. Billie Whitaker in Richmond, Va. After several corps assignment in the Southern Territory, they moved west to Greeley, Colo., in 1963, and many corps appointments followed. As a corps officer Dick had a special ministry with the young people, using well his musical gift. In retirement one of his great joys was a weekly ministry at a retirement home.

He is survived by his loving wife; two sons, Phillip of California and William of South Carolina; one daughter, Lynell of South Carolina, and six grandchildren. His two sisters are Commis-sioner Marie Hodder (R) and Mrs. Commissioner Marie Evans (R.)

A memorial and committal service was held in Atlanta with Commissioner Kenneth L. Hodder (R) officiating.
